Name of Activity:

Peer Assessment for Skills and Integrating Math in PE

Purpose of Activity:

This variation of peer assessments is meant to smoothly integrate math into PE, as we are encouraged and in some instances required to teach across the curriculum.

Suggested Grade Level:

3-5

Description of Idea

Students are to pair up or get in groups of three. Each group is given a rubric for whatever skill is being assessed, and each student is given a pencil and an index card. The assessor records successful and unsuccessful trials, and the data is used to create math equations (e.g., number of successful trials, number of unsuccessful trials, total trials, etc.). Sports themed math manipulatives are to be made available to each group as well. View the video below for more information and I hope you enjoy having your students assess each other.
